Hello guys,

Currently my forum shows something like

My forum's name - Index

I'd like to change the way of showing of THIS particular title (the title of the main page) to something more clear and descriptive.

Thanks for your help!

There is a mod on this. Follow my signature to My Mods. Find the mod under the name of  Remove Index From Title there.

First make a backup oh querystrings.php then:

In QueryStrings.php in your sources find:

$scripturl = $boardurl . '/index.php';

and replace with

$scripturl = $boardurl;

This should change your forum page from mysite.com/index.php to mysite.com

Hope this helped :)

IMHO he meant - index in the browser not index.php (though that is also in one of my mod)  ;D

Check out S-Ace's custom forum and portal title mod.

It let's you change index to whatever you want, it's good for SEO if you add relevant info in there instead of just removing it.

Agreed. That is a nice mod too.

I have an added question, however.

I'd like the <title> of the MAIN page to be different from the rest of pages (topic, boards, etc.)

How can I do that?

Thanks!

Have you try the above advice?

I guess you can install my mod and that mod together. Then leave the forum name empty and use that mod to give your forum a custom name / title.

Yes, your mod is also installed, but it didn't solve the problem :(

You can take a look to the index page

http://curefans.com/

or

http://curefans.com/curenews/sean-penn-looks-like-robert-smith-in-new-film/

There's still this annoying "-"

:(

Have you enabled my mod? If not go to Administration Center » Modification Settings » Miscellaneous and enabled it. It should remove - index. If that wont fix your problem, the custom forum might have changed your forum title entirely and uses its own settings.

Try the above while I check that mod.

I have checked that mod and found out that that mod changed your forum title entirely and uses its own settings instead. So my mod wont work with that mod.

I believe that this topic should be marked as solved since OP is solved and your current problem is no longer the same as the OP. Since you are using Additional Forum Title mod, you should be able to get the relevant support from that mod author then.

I'll mark this as solved while you can get help and support relating to that mod in its support thread, ok.
