About Midgard's Work

Dear Friends,

Midgard has informed me that from now on he has made all his work commerically avaliable from http://www.eggdrop.gen.tr/. Also he doesn't want his themes published on any site what so ever, or distrubuted through e-mail, msn or other means of file sharing methods,

(I apologise if this post is made in the wrong board, but as his themes are often requested, I thought that making this announcement here was the right thing)

Added: I am posting this in order to prevent theme requests which will be needless in the future

As far as i remember, the Hendrix theme cant be distributed commercially because it was ported, unless he got the ok from the creator.

hes charging $40 bucks for it. Maybe he did get the permission 2 sell it.

I personally don't think he'll get many or any buyers selling his work at THAT price...

i kno i thought the same thing. midgard lost alont in this community. im supprised hes even using smf in his site after he had went to VB. hes also usong the smfone theme by A.M.A. weird hes not using one of his.

Well I for one and really thankful that [Unknown] and the rest of the Team give their services freely

If Midgard wants to charge then that's fine by me, but I don't think i'll be buying any

Also, bear in mind that all themes and mods previously released can still be used free of charge as licenses cannot be changed retrospectively. As Midgard already distributed the themes and modifications for free and without any specific licensing all previously released material can be used without charge - only newly released and updated themes cannot be used. This is exactly the same law which makes it so Invision cannot stop people using 1.3.

Just a note, I'm not a lawyer but I have studied enough intellectural property rights to believe this is the case... just don't hold me to it

Hey guys just to inform you, I am not the one who is selling his themes, Midgard kindly requested that I post a message like this because he was banned. Yes It's true that he won't be able to make his work which had the gpl or the gnu license in them but I think that he can make the work which didn't have any licenses, commercially avaliable

Added: SMFOne is great theme, that is why he is using it, I have designed a lot of themes, but on my site I am using the Element theme, and SMFOne on the other, because they rock!

Personally I think he lost a lot of support with his strange behaviour and even stranger more cryptic messages on his own site. If your going to pay for a theme for SMF I would hope everyone here would support those that support the community i.e bloc or A.M.A.

I know I would anyway.

Midgard doesn't have permission to make any capital from the hendrix template. He was allowed to port it under that condition.

This is the first I've heard about him charging for it, to say the least I'm not happy about it.

Well, hopefully the situation will be resolved soon, I've sent Midgard a message regarding this. If he holds with the agreement we had, it'll either be on offer freely again or not on offer at all. Preferably the former.

thats not poppin making money out of sum1 elses work w/o permission. if hes goin 2 do that atleast give u a percent or sumthin.

that was his old mods n themes page after he left SMF and he took it off. now he put it bak up. lets see if its going to stay. he said he will be making his themes compatible for 1.1
