I have been having issues with doing db backups via both phpmyadmin and cpanels direct backup feature and decided to give the one through the forum a go. My backup should be around 50.6MB

This is what I got: 0bytes.

Any ideas?

Have you tried using the SMF ACP to create the backup?

Most commonly creating the backup ends up in a 0 byte file if you hit PHP limits on time and / or memory,
or a bit less commonly you actually run out of physical memory to work with.

50 meg is way too big for SMF admin to handle, and it'll give phpMyAdmin a hard time too. If your db is that big a cron job is your best bet.
