Hi!!

Yesterday one member has joined and created about 120+ threads and posted some spam like.."Buy desyrel online", "Order sumycin" and many more.... all are posted in different categories..i just can't figure them out..

I tried deleting each thread, later i realized there are lot of such threads.
Deleting single thread become cumbersome.

I did a foolish thing i guess, while deleting member i haven't checked..remove posts and threads by this member..

Is there any way to delete all those spam threads..?

Thanks in advance
Peace...

Open his profile and delete all his posts (and if you want together with his account). Then try banning his email and ip so that he cannot register anymore from the same ip and email.

he said he already deleted the member, so that wont work.

That's not a big problem actually. There is a way to restore that member back or assign member to that posts so that you delete them all in one go when that member is restored or that posts have been reassigned. I think either Kays or xenovanis or K@ had posted that few days back. You can check for this too.

OK..thanks for replies...
i counted those and count was 189 threads....all spam..including online viagra and all..all are links

Please anyone help me on how to delete that in single stroke...

create a new user
find the user name that was used to post the spam
in admin > maintenance > members, use the option "Attribute guest posts made with" = USERNAME and set the username to the new user which you just created.   then go in and delete the new user, making sure to use the "delete all posts and threads" option this time.

Maybe a better way...

Can you delete all posts made by a user in admin > maintenance > members, all his posts should now be under guest... so... as long as there are no other guest posts, you should be good to go...

Are you sure you checked the option to delete the posts and topics with the profile?

Sorry for late reply..

yes, i checked that option and deleted his account..

Odd. All topics and posts by this member should have been removed then. Any errors in your log?

I am having this same problem, tried multiple times to get rid off all the posts by deleteing accounts and all that is said here and the posts are all still there.  I dont have any errors in the logs but I really dont want to remove all the posts one at a time. Any ideas? and Im running SMF 2.0 RC3 with some mods.
