hi guys,

I have problem with search engine.
are there anybody to be able to solve that problem?
Our forum use SMF 2.0 RC2. There are 4306 users and 5586 topics. So you can imagine how important for us to search.
But it is difficult because it makes mistakes always.

If you are programer, please help us.
I think it would be easier if the search engine use the titles of the topics, but I don't know it is possible or not.

I asked you, because if we can't solve that problem, we can't be bigger and use our forum.

thanks!

Your question ins unclear.   What is your problem and what are you asking?

SMF search is not working perfect. it doesn't find the topics.
I can't figure out what would be the problem.

it is a SMF RC2.

that's my problem.

I searched a word, that word is the title of the topic, and there were no results.
I don't know why is that, that's the reason I asked here.

well, my first comment is: Upgrade to RC3 and check again...      Also...   RC2 has known security issues.

Ok, I updated to RC3.

What is this? smf_log_search_words - Do I need this?

It was empty but now it is 50 MB.

Could I empty smf_log_search_words?

Thanks.

mitbrille

I think I made a mistake.
I emptied smf_log_search_words. After that this is growing again but the Search is not working very well.

What should I do now?

If you use the more advanced search page then you can make searches that only look in topic titles.

You should not interact directly with the DB. You can make a mess.
Use the function provided on the dedicated admin page (Admin>Forum>Search>Search method).
