Wait isn't that because mom needs to read/see it

The background image on the posts could be slightly lighter, as you did in the topic bars (which I need to find out how to add hnn), and also having the quoted text in a grey/purple colour instead. Oh and remove the title text, I don't see a reason for this being there since you are using a banner to display that.

I took the advice under consideration and shrinked the buttons a bit. The site went live recently, so you can all have a look:
