hi everyone,

There is an SMF 2 RC2.

If I delete a topic, the SMF take it to the refuse bin.
How can I empty that refuse bin? It is full with topics.

I am looking for the easiest way to delete these topics from the refuse bin forever.

thanks!

kat

It's "Recycle bin", as it 'appens.

Dead easy!

Go to the board, so you can see all the topics.

At the top, just above the first post, on the right, there'll be a box. Every post will have a similar box beside it.

If you check that top box, all the other boxes will be checked, automatically.

Then, go to the bottom and, just to the left of "Go", is a selector. Select "Remove selected" and click "Go".

Bin empty! ;)

mitbrille

thanks but the problem is there isn't any box at the top in RC2.
That's why I asked you guys. it is not that dead easy. :)

To have the boxes visible, you would neet to alter your profile settings to have quick moderation on as checkboxes.
Other than that, you can always use the functionality in index.php?action=admin;area=maintain;sa=topics;
and select only your recycle bin in the "Remove Old Posts" section, and prune the board from all old topics. :)

How you can help SMF

Sorry, mitbrille.

I was on v1.1.x mode. :(

I think it's a shame that this isn't so obvious in v2.x, myself.

Ta, Lax!

mitbrille

Ah, here's how I've done it:

Profile > Look and Layout > Show quick moderation as...

Select "Checkboxes".

Of course save.

Then you can select all topics with the topmost checkbox in the right row.

And last but not least, go down and select Do with selected... > Delete in the dropdown menu. Then click on Go.

How to empty the recycle bin if there are several thousand messages in it?

Arantor

Put the forum in maintenance mode, turn off post recycling, delete the board, remake the board, make it the recycle board.

Will have to make note of that one...thank you too!

Going to lock this now; please create a new thread if you have an issue.
