I am in Canada on a 5 meg cable connection and I do experience times when a page can take several seconds to load but the vast majority of the time it loads very nicely.

I don't work here or even help often, but when its slow if you could do a ping and a tracert maybe we could see where the slow down is for you. Most likely its just the backbone connections used to carry the site over sea's.

I had problems in the past until my Data Center changed carriers over seas.

Actually, the smf was down for a few minutes just now, and happened iirc a few of days ago. I've never experienced that before
I'm located in london, but not had problem with other global sites

Yeah Simple Machines was down. Not for very long and SMF will still work.

yeah. it was down abit. It said "server hiccup!" when i tried to access the forum.

As for loading time, i get "Page created in 0.105 seconds with 8 queries."

2meg cable here, if it slows down, like our site does from time to time, its down to the server load

[Unknown] Said that mass emails take a lot of drain on the server, so it is possibly from one of those. there was one a few days ago.

The site has been very slow for me today. I even got a few "high load" pages.

Ex: "Due to high stress on the server, the search function is temporarily disabled."

Ex: "Temporly unavailable"

Unfortunately this server is also our test server - so it's entirely possible that from time to time we might over stretch it when testing out new things. It's not a result of the forum software itself.
