How do you 'restore' a 1.0.5 sql file to 1.1b3p?

Our admins are planning our upgrade to 1.1 and the favoured plan is to create a new 1.0.5 board with an existing d/b backup, upgrade it and.....

At some point we need to install 1.1b3p compatable mods and ultimately put the existing 1.0.5 site into maintainance, transfer the database and the domain settings. We will not do the transfer until we have tested all the mods that we want and have a tried and tested way to transfer the database. We anticipate that will be circa September.

What will be the best way to go about this?

1. Restore your 1.0.5 dump
2. upload 1.1 files and your 1.0.5 Settings.php
3. If url or server is changed, run repair_settings.php
4. run upgrade.php
5. enjoy

So the best plan would be to check all the mods and things out on a test site.

When the upgrade time comes, back up the files, back up the data base.

Put the board into maintenance mode.

Manually upgrade the main site to 1.1.

Check it out

Make another files backup.

Make another database backup.

Upload and apply the mods.

Check it out

Make another files backup.

Make another database backup.

Put it back to live
