Yes, no doubt there are some wonderful themes, but when we compare them with the kinds available for phpbb, IPB and to some extent vbulletin.

Those softwares has existed long before SMF. No wonder there are more themes for them.

Yeah, and the style of them is also somewhat colored by the software. With a theme engine like SMF its themes tend to be quite different from each other(or can be), while these others just change graphics/colors which more or less are in the same "places".

Like Winamp...its a lot more skins for the "classic" look than the "modern" look, simply because it easier to work within set boundaries, than free-flow. But I know what I prefer.
(although I do prefer "classic" style winamp, but thats because it renders much faster...)

I think some people are basically looking for themes with Flash headers or something as that is the main ones I've seen people unhappy aren't available here.  I love the themes of SMF and no-one could convince me that phpBB has more professional looking ones (vB has some nice paid ones and IPB has some nice paid and free ones though).

The last thing I would do it to have a flash banner on my forum, really detest that.

Today I saw a good skin 'SMF Generation', I thinks it's so good.

i think flash banner its horrible with any page that has to be refreshed frequently.  its good if u have it on a separate frame that will only play once and that it not over and over and over again.  it just gets too damn annoying.  i like a lot of the themes for SMF SMFone is a great theme it shows the capabilities the SMF theme system has.

I am in fact doing a skin similar to those at the moment, it will be a paid theme I am afraid(first attached)..but there are also free ones in the works. Attaching a couple of drafts.
