looking for an utf8 editor

i need to convert some translations into utf8
i know there are a lot of converters out there, but those are not the ones i want
because they only take the txt or php or html watever and convert it
i have a problem with this bcuz my converted php file crashes my theme template
anyways
there was a text file editor that i used back then
it can open a php file and you can input text or edit text in the file and it will automatically convert it into utf8
can't remember the software's name, anyone has suggestion?
i remember it looks like a programming software

have you tried notepad++ and then configure it to be utf-8?

i just tried it
but it still crashes the template

any idea why?
if i used non utf8 characters, altho it won't display properly but it doesn't crash template

nvm, i tried convert without BOM now it works fine
