avatar folder is 777 writeable, SMF tells me it isn't every time

the host i'm on allows 777 permissions on folders - a few of the other ones are 777.

i've even tried creating a different folder and pointing the avatars settings at that one and still get the same error.

bit confused !

File ownership set correctly?  I suppose this could end up causing a problem, though chmod 777 should solve that.  Anyways, it's worth a try?

the ownership is fine.  i did a recursive chmod 777 to each folder so everything inside the folder is also 777.  still the same error

jason you really should have the files inside the folders to 666 or such the folders themeselves try as 755
