Ranks?

Above my avatar are squares on my forum.  I typically have 5 and they are orange.  In my moderator forum mine are green and there are 5 squares.  I see some people have 6 squares and they are yellow. 

I am trying to figure out what it all means.  I assume they are ranks?

they seem most likely to be based on what post based group the user is in, it may also be part of what member group they are in. you can view more on this under admin -> membergroups and edit each group to see the number of "stars" they have and which star is assigned to that group.
