A forum that I use often doesn't allow guests to browse the forum. I'm trying to set up an RSS widget on my computer's desktop so I can keep up with it without having to have a browser open. Is there a way to include login information in the RSS url for authentication?

Would be so much easier if I could find an RSS widget that I could use my Chrome cookies with...

yup... sorry, it's not necessarily a limitation of smf so much as a limitation on how rss authentication works.
