SMS notifications on topics?

Is it possible to somehow set up a system to recieve SMS notifications when subscribed to topics? like when you get a new reply or a pm you get a text.

any services online that offer this? i would really love to bring this feature into my forum, especially being a tech support forum. any idea how I could go about doing this?

Most SMS gateways I know, would require you to pay for the gateway, and pay for the SMS service.
