how to change the language?

i have the smf 2.0 RC4 and i wanna change the language
how can i do it? thank you

you have to download the new language pack, which you can do in the admin panel admin -> languages -> add language. you may also need to enable the ability for users to select other languages in the settings tab.

when i try to install it from my admin panel it says this You cannot proceed with the installation until all files selected to be copied are writable.

is your Themes/<themefolder>/languages folder writable?

check in your cpanel file manager or ftp client that the folder is either 744 or 777 permissions i believe those are the correct permissions.

I can change the language if i replace the files from the default theme?

you should not replace you are ADDING files. and yes you can add them to the default theme.
