I recently transferred my forum from one server to another. I made sure my links where all correct and it is slowl. I turned my servers firewall off, still slow. I have xampp. I have windows home server. I made sure windows home servers special features use port 8080 instead of port 80. I have portforwarded ports 80 and 8080. If i restart apache it is fast for a short period of time then it just loads for ever. I do not know what to do.  :'(

Robert.

Are you getting any errors in your error log?

busterone

they are in the database.
table- smf_log_errors   or if you installed with a different prefix,  your prefix_log_errors

im getting an "undefined index SpCatTitle" or somthing?

That sounds more like an xampp configuration issue instead of SMF.
Do you have any other sites on the same server, particularly non SMF sites that you can test to see if they are slow as well?

tyqre

well i have a mybb forum and it is running fine. I can try another fresh install of smf.

You are possibly running into an issue with a slow DNS server (which most consumer ISPs have). Try turning off hostname lookups and see if that helps. Note that doing so makes it a little more difficult to handle certain types of bans (those based on the hostname of the IP).

but it was working fine before i switched to another computer in the same network. This is on the same network btw.... i just moved the files down one story to another computer.

Did you make sure to check all the paths and server settings to ensue they are correct?

Not sure what to suggest other than checking server logs. Stuff like XAMPP is designed for local development work more than production use and thus isn't as well checked for production use with the same level of effort. Running a server at one's home isn't for those who don't know what they are doing.
