On one forum I run I can not install any packages at all.

Everything appears to go to plan, but the packages never show up in the admin panel meaning I have to do manual installs all the time.

I have posted about this each time I upgrade my site. Its getting such a choir to do a manual install on all the packages that I now hold back on upgrades.

Advice and offers of help would be really appreciated. Ive put an add on scriptlance to get someone to do some manual install on the ad management mod for me but I would love to get to the bottom of this ongoing problem.

I am willing to pay if someone can sort this out once and for all.

Same problem here.

Find attached a dump of my error log table after trying to install RSS Feeder on RC5.

Help very much appreciated.

It appears that although it doesn't have the necessary permissions, it fails to request FTP information and goes ahead and tries to install the package via the file system - and fails silently.

Try creating a folder called "temp" in your package from your cpanel

Tried that already (though I have no idea what a cpanel is). As a workaround, I made all the files and directories the Package wants to update world-writable. Then it worked.

Whats the permissions of files and folder of your forum?

Try settings all folders to 644 and files to 755.

Thanks, Joker. That's more or less the workaround I found.
