Hello there.

What you should do is to import an old database.
You should go to your phpMyAdmin and chose the forums database. Than click on "Import" tab and select .sql file that you want to import.

Note that import can take for a while, and after that you should be able to use your forum with old data.
Note also that you may need to repair settings, by using repair_settings.php file.

Also take a look at this document that can help with proccess of restoring database:
How do I restore a database backup?

Let us know if you manage to import your database or you have further assistance.

Best regards.

What version is your 'old forum'?
Never argue with an Idiot like myself, they just drag you down to their level then beat you with experience.
