Lengthen the title of the Last Topic displayed on forum index?

Just installed RC4 and I'm playing around with the design.  I want to lengthen the number of characters that are displayed for the Last Post on the board index.  The template variable is $board['last_post']['link'] but I can't seem to find how to lengthen the number of characters before it is cut off.  Help?

Is it bad form to bump here?  I'm stuck on this problem.
