It's no big deal at all.

Update/upgrade...what's the difference? Everyone with an IQ above 1 should be able to know that if people say Large Update or Large Upgrade they mean the package that states Large.

One more question, before I do the upgrade.

Will I have to uninstall ALL the mods before the upgrade?

I will you guys know how it goes, after I finish.
Thanks much for all the helps.

Arantor

The upgrade will remove the changes, but may not touch the DB - best to remove them all, in most cases you'll have to reinstall them anyway.

forfun

Thanks for the info.
Some of the mods have given me the errors, during the un-installation, so I can them there.
Is there any risk to do that?

Arantor

No, just uninstall them, then the upgrade will deal with the rest.

forfun

The problem is during the un-installation process, I get a list of error files, so I DO NOT "click" the un-install button to proceed.
Can I just leave those mods at where they are?
Hope my explanation is clear enough this time.
Thanks for the helps

Arantor

Well, theoretically you can, but once you've upgraded, it'll tell you they're all installed when they can't be... Click uninstall anyway at this point, because any issues, the upgrader will nuke the changes when it replaces every SMF file with a fresh RC5 one...

forfun

Thanks so much for all the helps.
I just don't want to make any mistake, because it will be a PITA later.
I have read the upgrade document, and I suppose to upload (FTP) all the files of the large upgrade folder. but as I can see that some folders are empty, such as "attachements", the question is

Can I just leave the old folder there, and just upload all the folders that obviously not affect the existing data (images)?
Thanks again much in advanced

Arantor

Yes, you leave the old folder there, the new folder won't overwrite it.

forfun

i guess that is the whole point.  If the new folder will over write the old one, then I will loose all the attached data (images).
I hope that is the case, so if I leave the old folder there, then the data will be safe, am I not?
