opening a topic to original post rather then a reply

I upgraded my site to RC4 and now every time you click a a post it takes you to the most recent reply rather then letting you view the original post.
I can't seem to see an option to change this. It doesn't happen at the site so I assume there's a way to fix this but I need to know how.

can do a print screen to see the exact error?
but, try.. Your Profile---->Look and Layout----> in this part, uncheck the option "Show most recent posts at the top".

I don't know that this is an error since I'm not getting an error message and I don't have a check mark in that box although when trying to see if I could get the oldest message in a topic to show first, I did try putting a check in that box to see if it made any difference and it didn't.
Since it didn't make a difference, I took the check mark out.

Does this happen with default curve theme also?

It happens with the default theme. I'm not sure about any other themes since we only use the default.
One thing I noticed though is it doesn't happen if I use a mac computer with the Safari browser.
When I use a PC with IE8, I can't see the original post when I click on a topic.

Sorry about the font. I have a hard time reading the tiny print.
In any event, I see you didn't test this using IE8 which is where I have been seeing the problem.
I didn't have any problem before upgrading the smf software so I don't know where the conflict lies.

I think I figured out what the problem is. I have a few sites and all but one won't open the first topic in a post. My only site that does let me open the first topic doesn't have the WYSIWYG quick reply mod so I decided to try uninstalling that mod in a different site and now I can open the first post in a topic.
I don't know why there's this conflict though since it doesn't seem to effect my site if you use certain browsers.
For some reason, IE8 doesn't like the WYSIWYG guick reply mod. I guess I'll see if the mod originator has any suggestions.

If the problem is originated because of the mod, then you should be asking for support in the mod support thread as the mod author is most familiar with the mod code and you will be able to get much fast support there.

I was actually talking to joker at that point... there is a topic on your forum in the Information/help board called Maintenance required... when I tried that topic I was able to reproduce the issue you were having.

Glad you figured it out... you can try the support topic for the WYSIWYG Quick Reply mod for a solution (if there is one)

With IE8 even I'm going to first post only after clicking on topic name from message index.

Yep thats the one, The Op solved it by removing a certain mod so its working properly now.

I haven't had a chance to check with the mod operator for that quick reply mod but I did uninstall the mod, only not by choice.
I thought I'd upgrade to RC5 and see if the problem still existed but I was going to do this on a site I don't use much only by mistake, I updated the site that was linked in this post.
I haven't had a chance to update my mods so I don't know if I'll still have a problem.
I'll have to get back to you on that.
