Adding latests post to Curvemavi theme home page

I would like to add the 4 or 5 latest posts to the home page of the forum, I am using the Curvemavi theme and wondered if anyone could give me some advice.
From my searching around it looks like adding the SSI include into the page might do that but wanted to ask on here 1st.

admin -> current theme -> number of recent posts to display on board index
