Hi everybody,

I'm trying to install the smf application through webinstall.php script, but I'm getting same error mesage each time and I can not proceed further..

Steps are like following;

First, I've uploaded webinstall.php under /httpdocs/forum

Then, I've verified my simplemachines.org forum account and select the additional languages such as English, Spanish, French, German, Turkish... and click licence aggrement and clicked "Continue"

In this page, I'm getting some warnings and notices but I'm ignoring them each time, I think they are not so important... So, I've entered the information exactly like below;

And then I'm receiving this error; "Sorry the FTP path you entered wasn't same place as this installer was uploaded to."

Please , waiting for help...

Thanks in advance...

Illori

Hi,

the webinstall does not work on all servers, please try the normal method of installing, Installing SMF

CapadY

Normaly the localhost is pointing to the rootdir, in your case "httpdocs".

your install path is filled as "httpdocs/forum"

Because the localhost is pointing to "httpdocs", your installpath is now pointing to "httpdocs/httpdocs/forum".

So, give it a try with only "/forum" in the install path.
Please, don't PM me for support unless invited.
If you don't understand this, you will be blacklisted.

I derno about your hosting arrangements capady, but normally when I log into my FTP account on my host, I see a bunch of different directories, including my public folder, which I have to manually navigate to...

so entering httpdocs/forum would be correct.  However he has filled in /httpdocs/forum (with a leading '/'), which might cause some problems.  Remove the leading '/' and try just 'httpdocs/forum'.  This is also evident by looking at the very first screenshot showing his FTP client.

Also, try to do the webinstall without logging in with your SMF credentials.  It's odd the webinstaller is throwing the undefined index errors after you've logged in though.  Checking the code, it looks like $_SESSION might be getting wiped out for some reason but I don't see where.  Can you link to a phpinfo file as well?
What is a phpinfo() file?
