Hi Folks,

Hit a problem yesterday where our host had a disk space issue, and that somehow caused settings.php to become an empty file, and this broke the forum.

I used this forum to solve the problem, and thankfully there was a backup of settings.php in the root so restoring that brought the forum back up - so far so good.

I also read that I could make the settings.php file read only. At present it has the permissions 0644 in cpanel. What permissions number would i use to make the read only but still readable by allusers incl guests ?

thanks

kat

Totally read-only is 444.

644 should be OK, though.

That allows only the owner (You) to write to it.
