hy, Is it possible to reinstall a SMF Forum without losing posts, topics and boards and Users ?

How can I do this ?

Please Help !

My current Version RC5 has to much errors, because I did many mistakes :/

Download the Full Upgrade package for RC5: http://download.simplemachines.org/index.php?thanks;filename=smf_2-0-rc5_upgrade.zip

Unzip it on your PC/Mac and then upload all the files to your main directory (rewrite over any files).

Then in your browser URL: http://YOUR_SITE/upgrade.php

Afterward you will have to re-install all your mods.

Firstly, you need to take a copy of the database and a copy of your SMF directory to be on the safe side.

If you can disable any mods do this before the next steps.

Next you need to download a fresh version of SMF RC5 files.

- You can keep the database you currently have, unless you want to create a new one with your database back.
- Next clear out the SMF files and put in a copy of the new SMF RC5 files you downloaded
- Next run repair_settings.php

If you have mods or a theme you need to add them back in now.

Thanks, but I first tried the method of -Underdog- , but nothing has changed :S

My mods and my themes wasn´t deleted, everythings is like before...

@ziycon
What do you mean with fresh version of SMF RC5 ? the full package or the Upgrade Package ?

What do you mean with clear out ?
Should I first delete my current files, and then copy the new RC5 files on my webspace ?

Thanks guys :)

So once you have a backup of your database and SMF directory, you need to:

- Disable all your mods
- Download a full version of SMF RC5
- Delete all the files/directories in your current SMF directory on your webserver
- Upload the vanilla SMF RC5 files
- Run repair_settings.php.
- Enable your mods

Does this make sense?

do NOT delete settings.php file from your server, you can delete anything else but that file. if you remove that file you will have lost all your connection information for your database.
