Hello!

Is it possible to show most recent posts on top in every boards by default overriding any user settings?

you mean most recent posts in threads on top? you can set this in the profile look and layout preferences or in admin -> themes and layout -> member options pick the correct option for your theme and find the options you wish to enable/disable.

keep in mind if you allow your users to edit their additional profile settings they can revert this change back to how they want.

SMF v1.x: Admin>Themes>Themes and Settings>Click theme name.

SMF v2.x: Admin>Themes>Member Options>Change current options for all members using this theme.

In future, would you please let us know which version of SMF you're using? Makes things a LOT easier.
