Hi,

We are running in a problem for months right now with no solution... RC 2.4 was perfectly working in sending mails on a Windows 2003 server. Once our developers changed the hosting server to a Linux, RC 2.4 stopped sending mails. We have been working hard with no soltuon. We reported this to our hosting and below is the answer:

We have created 2 test users:
user1 with [email protected] mailbox;
user2 with [email protected] mailbox

and have reproduced mentioned issue. Private messages go strictly to users however there are no notifications about their delivery in mentioned mailboxes. Let me also inform you that we we have checked php mail send function on the server and have not found any issues with it.
Test messages from:
http://www.auto-works.cc/mail_test_linux.php

our test script go directly to [email protected] mailbox.

It looks like send mail function of your forum is not configured correctly. We kindly ask you to check it from your end and let us know if you need our further assistance. Hope we can count on your understanding in this matter. We are available for you 24/7.

Now, we need to really know where is the problem? Is it SMF not relaying messages to the mail server or the mail server is dropping the messages for some reason?

when you go to admin -> mail -> settings is your forum setup to use php default or smtp for mail type? do you have any errors in your error log related to this?

We are using php mail and no errors related to this :(.

does your host offer smtp? if so you can try to configure that instead.

It was smtp and was not working too. If we use another smtp server it works. How to convince our hosting admin?

Illori

explain what you did and how many times it did not work. other then that i dont know, some hosts will not budge no matter how hard you push.
