Hey, I'm currently using 1.1.13. I love the simplewiki mod that incorporates a wiki into the forum, but this is only compatible with 2.x. What I thought I could do was setup a 2.x forum, share the database I currently have with my 1.1.13 forum, and the features for this mod.

Is this possible, and what would it take?

Now, I also noticed that this website (SMF) also has a wikimedia bridge (http://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/Main_Page). I, too, have set up something like this for my 1.1.13 and have bridged it successfully, but how do the web-designers of this site manage use the exact same layout and theme as the forum?

For instance, my website looks like this:

http://biology-forums.com

and my wiki looks like this:

http://biology-forums.com/definitions/index.php/Main_Page

Who should I talk to in order to find out more information on how it's done?

Look at the footers and headers of the wiki on this website: http://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/Main_Page

and the footers and headers of other sections: http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php

They look nearly identical.

1.x database has a COMPLETELY different scheme than a 2.0 database. while the structure is a bit similar, the naming conventions are totally different

it would take a lot of hacking and checking to get a 2.0 database to be bridged to a 1.x database, so much that it would be pointless to even do it.

if you ask me you do have somewhat of a chance to get this done, but not by bridging databases, but by tricking SMF using SSI. you could send data from SSI.php in your 1.1 installation to your 2.0 installation, while your 2.0 installation only acts as a wiki.

what you would send over is username, salted pass, group, additional groups, etc, most things found in $user_info

you dont need to do much as your 2.0 installation will only be a wiki, so miminal SMF adjustments in itself are needed, and a few major adjustments for the wiki mod

You make it sound easy. However, I could just still to the wiki I have bridged right now to my website and adjust its theme so that it looks identical to the smf default them. That however, would take a while to do because, quite frankly, the wiki code makes NO sense to me and there isn't even a forum that can help with it. :-\

The bridge they have on this website is similar to what I did and functions the same way, but they probably hired a programmer so that they could make the theme identical to the website.
