CSS help: newsfader

I'm trying to create a new theme based on the Classic YabbSE Theme, in oder to make this theme work with Mambo I stripped the CSS. But now something weird happened.

Take a look at the attached picture. The text in the newsfader shows up fine in Firefix, but looks granular and is almost unreadable in Internet Explorer. in Firefex however a funny | show up at the right.
I did alter the default theme in a same way, but that seems to work fine.

Any ideas where I can correct this?

Nevermind, I fixed this adding a class to it.
