I thought I had suceeded restauring my dump-file, but I did not...
I have a dump-file with one name 5051 witch I am trying to restore in another server.
The problem is that the server does not allow me to create any name I want in databases, they have a list of pre-named databases I can use.
So I am trying to restore 5051 database to my new forum with an empty database called 7973...
Any idea?

Thanks!

Just restore the tables into that new database, and use repair_settings.php to update SMF's settings.  What is repair_settings.php?

Please see this topic for more information:

Nope.. It did not help...
Keeps saying
Some of the queries were not executed properly. Technical information about the queries:
Line #1: Query was empty

???

tentronik

Can you open manually the file in notepad?
Does the file contains a *.sql extension?
And how you execute the sql query(phpmyadmin, admin panel)?

JustJa

Hi Tentronik, I can open yes and it is .sql

I am using restore_backup.php to try to restore the database...

[Unknown]

The error message you get means that the query on line 1 was empty; e.g. the first line was a ; or had two semi colons in a row.

Was the data restored anyway?

-[Unknown]

JustJa

No it was not restored... :(
Are u sure I don´t need to rename the new database as the old?

[Unknown]

It depends on how you created the dump.

You can try opening the .sql file with a text editor, and searching for the old database name - replacing it, if you find it and however many times you do, with the new one.

JustJa

Now I could load the dump on mysql but it does not show on the forum !?!?!?!
I am not sure but I think I had this problem before and Xenovanis helped me on the window server.
I had to ask the guys from the server to create a user to my database with all privileges and just then I could be able to restore it to the forum...
::)
Don´t ask me why...

tentronik

Did you searched the sql and checked specialy the database name?
And when you run the sql did any errors occured again?
Does the forum error log is reporting anything?
Is the settings.php database info and  URLS right?
Is the data now in the new database - can you see the smf tables?

And when your server had to setup a special user for the MySQL configuration, this might be have to happen with the new database as well?

JustJa

Yes I did search the sql. No problem there
If I try to restaure the backup again it will make double copies.. It is the 10th time I am doing this and deleting :(
I used the tools repair settings and the other one but it looks everything is like it should.
Now I talked to the guys on the server but I will probably have to wait a little more.
:)
But thanks ;)

JustJa

Hi guys!
Nothing yet :(
I was thinking if it maybe have to do with the version of SFM.
I was using 1.0 and I am trying to restore the database to 1.1...
???

tentronik

Ok how do you access the database?
With phpmyadmin?

1.
install 1.1

2.
Check your sql again if its contains only INSERT tags no CREATE/DROP table tags.

3.
Then run the sql with the insert tags as a sql query, preferable with phpmyadmin.

4.
Post any errors you encounter.

Also do you have a admin panel such as hosteurope with detailed admin features for editing the databases?

And does your server support team acknowledged that the other database is wortking propably?

Also please post any errors you might encounter during install.

Again maybe you run the sql on the wrong database, cause you get no errors and no result at all?

Yes I access it with phpmyadmin.

In the sql file it has not drop but CREATE table  it has many!
But when I look at the panel to export sql what I see is that :
it is marked to export as sql

structure: is marked
add Auto_increment value
Enclose table and field names with backquotes

Data:
Use hexadecimal for binary fields
Export type: Insert
Save as file _DB_ (remember template)

Post any errors you encounter.

When I try to run the sql  I get this popup error message on the myadmin panel:

"documment has no data"

Then I run the restore_backup.sql and it says that it was restored without problems.

I type the site address. And now I got:

Connection Problems
Sorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later.

I use the repair_path.php
get this error:
repair path:
Table '7973-1.smf_settings' doesn't exist

QuoteAlso do you have a admin panel such as hosteurope with detailed admin features for editing the databases?

I don´t know if my admin is like hosteurope but there are a lot of functions and there is edit in sql query among others.

Yes they know that the other is working ok.
I asked them to try to d ths for me. they are also trying without success..
I am really very happy that I just did not change everything without testing, if not I would be with my site down for ages again..

I don´t get any errors in the installation.

I don´t think so... It is strange because I do use the restore_backup.php tool and then it migrates everything to the admin panel. I get crazy with this, everything is there! I can see it!But the forum can´t...

Thanks a lot  :)

Can you send me your FTP information (via pm or email) so I can take a look?

JustJa
