Need Help With Doctypes/SSI

I had my forums Recent Topics posting on my website. Then I validated my website and declared a doctype. Now my forum posts won't show up. I have tried all kinds of different doctypes and it still won't work. If I take out the declaration it does work again.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
