Search and new replies Problems

I have been finding that the Search function here on SMF is becoming more and more redundant.

More often than not I am getting

An Error Has Occurred!
Due to high stress on the server, the search function is temporarily disabled. Please try again in a short while.

I can't tell if this subject has already come up or not - because the Search facility is still given that message.

I have also found that "Show new replies to your posts" is getting slower and slower - as in 15 to 20 seconds to load up. I have marked all as read, no change.
Is this server related or is it an SMF problem?

Unfortunately, imapd seems to have become schizophrenic suddenly, and is eating up all the CPU it can find.
