Help!! Errors!!

My host just upgraded to 4.4php and I uploaded the Subs.php file given in the php4.4 compatability thread.  Now I'm getting this error:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_CONSTANT_ENCAPSED_STRING in /home/stdkncom/public_html/forums/Sources/Subs.php on line 1596

This is line 1596:

       $context['random_news_line'] ']= $context['news_lines'][rand(0, count($context['news_lines']) - 1)];


I had it in Overwrite Existing Files.  I didn't open the file in DW or anything, just downloaded, then uploaded to server.  Can someone help me out.  I have very little experience with this stuff.

fixed it (i hope)  apparently the old file didn't get overwritten properly..tried again and i'm back in business
