Do I have to uninstall Mods before upgrading?

Hullo everyone

I'm on SMF 1.0.5 and want to upgrade to 1.1rc1

I currently have these mods:
Karma description log
Board Notes 1.0.2 
PJIRC Integrated Chat Mod 1.0 
Group Moderators

Do I have to uninstall the Mods first to ensure the upgrade is 'clean'?

Also, I have some themes that's for the 1.0.5 installed. Do i have to disable them?

Yes, uninstall all of those mods.  After you upgrade, you will no longer be able to install any of those mods again until they are updated.  My PJIRC mod will work just fine with RC1, however .

another question. If i have a CMS in the future, lets say Mambo. and I have SMF installed, will the upgrade be as easy as the process for upgrading 1.0.5 to 1.1rc1?

Most likely yes.
