I have recently imported my database from another host (v 1.1.19). Everything shows up correctly, however it seems as though my posts are missing. The forum topics appear and show the latest post, however when you click on a topic and then subject to read the post, the screen is blank. Please help! Where can I look to troubleshoot this? Welcome to SMF,

Do you happen to have a link to your site? How exactly did you import the database?

That's not a traditional white screen but the page loading was interrupted (there is no footer)
You should have something in your SMF log or in PHP error log.

I wonder if it's a theme path problem...?

Does the default theme load any better?

Got a link to your forum?

sprange3

I exported the database structure and data from the old site from within the admin portal and then ran an import in phpMyAdmin. How to I access the SMF error logs? K@ - it could be a theme issue, I did create a custom theme and modified the css a bit. Here is a link to the forum: http://www.jeepthing.org/forum/. Thank you for your help.

Got a link to a page where posts are missing? I'm looking around, myself, and everything seems fine.

Maybe you need to clear out your browser's cache/cookies and stuff?

sprange3

Changing the theme back to default did not help. The post text is still missing.

kat

A clue...?

I'd expect the link to be:

http://www.jeepthing.org/forum/index.php?topic,8148.0.

not:

http://www.jeepthing.org/forum/index.php/topic,8148.0.html

The "?" is a "/" and I dread to think where the "html" is coming from...

PrettyURLs? Are you using that mod? Some other crap SEO mod?

Illori

no they are using the Search engine friendly urls which are useless and do very little good.

sprange3

How would I go about changing that to get back to a normal url?

kat

Features and options>Basic options. :)

sprange3

I turned that off, however the posts are still missing. The url is showing up as 'http://www.jeepthing.org/forum/index.php?topic=8148.0.'; Other ideas? The old host had a mod called trimurl. I didn't install it on the new host, however I'm wondering if it left something in the database when I exported.

kat

Yuk. Possibly, yes. How the heck you'd find that out, though, I couldn't even begin to imagine. :(

margarett

The way the page loading is interrupted is suspect, methinks.

What you can do to try a small debug: try with default theme, replacing Sources/Display.php and Themes/default/Display.template.php with clean copies from a fresh install. Do backup your actual files!

@margarett - It worked!!! Thank you so much. Somewhere along the way my display.php must have gotten corrupted. Not sure how, but I really appreciate the help.

margarett

Glad it worked ;)

Anyway, you should pay some attention for missing features. What you did remove any changes that you or your MODs did...

I hadn't used any of the mods yet on this new host, so I cleaned them all out and will reinstall one by one to make sure nothing breaks. Thanks again.
