upgrading from XMB

i'd like to upgrade from XMB. do need to have a new SMF installed, and then run the upgrade file, or i dont need to install?

btw im just upgrading.... in the upgrade thing it says that the database password is incorrect and im sure im entering it correctly....

If SMF and XMB aren't installed on the same database, you need to be using the same MySQL username and password for both boards or the converter won't work.
