Hello,

I already have an existing SMF forum. I was thinking of installing MKPortal on it but I am not understanding exactly how to do it.

For one i dont understand this:

/forum          (or any other name of the folder containing the board installed)
/mkportal     (containing the content of "upload" folder)
/index.php   (included in mkportal package)

You should obtain this structure (it's the only structure to make mkportal work correctly) :

http://www.yoursite.com/forum
http://www.yoursite.com/mkportal
http://www.yoursite.com/index.php   (mkportal main index)

The mkportal folder and index.php file go into my existing forum folder right? This is confusing to me.

Could someone explain this to me please :)

The mkportal folder and index.php file should go in your root directory (ie the same directory that the "forum" folder is in).

For example, if SMF is located at /home/you/public_html/forum, then the mkportal folder and index.php should go in the "public_html" directory.

Thanks. When i log onto my ftp folder the forum folder is just there. Example: www.mydomain.net/forum  The forum folder isnt inside another directory. This is what is confusing me.

Thats fine

\domain name\
\domain name\forum\
\domain name\mkportal\

Just create the mkportal folder and upload mkp

The forum folder has to be inside another folder someplace... If you want mkportal to be at http://www.yoursite.com/forum/index.php then you'll have to move the forum to a new sub-directory.

Does MKPortal automatically adapt the SMF's style.css settings?

yes. I've been testing it.  It works pretty nicely.
