Search function doesn't find all results.

Hello,

I've noticed a problem with the search function on my forum. It doesn't seem to find all posts that contain a specific word. In a specific case, it finds only 4-5 results, whereas when I search directly in the smf_messages table through phpMyAdmin I find 40+ results. I understand that this might be due to posts being quoted, etc, but the discrepancy is far too large.

Even when I try to search for messages by a specific user, that I know has the specific word in several posts, I only get one or two posts (and they don't show up in the original search either).

Just to note, I'm using SMF 1.1.19, located at forum.carclub.mk [nofollow].

I tried rebuilding the fulltext index (which is quite large now), I tried searching without the index, etc. I get the same results.

I'll be honest, here. I've never found SMF's Search facility to be particularly good.

If I want to make a good search, I tend to defy my own "Avoid Google" rule and use their site search.

THUS.

Thanks! I looked through that topic and couldn't find a solution. The search goes on!

Try creating a Fulltext or Custom index.
