Greetings again Support, all y'all been so helpful.

I had a common error I've been meaning to get to and
finally decided to deal with it today.
I started in Support and followed the directions.
I did a search for the error and found the solution.

I disabled Template Evaluations and the error went away.

I currently have no Packages installed except the 2.0.8 upgrade package.
I want to make absolutely sure there are no errors before I begin
installing any Packages.

okay, I spoke too soon, the error returned, sorry.

this is apparently the same error before I disabled
template eval.

Your code misses a verification. The original code is:

I do not know if it is the original.  The whole project
was migrated to several hosts before I was placed
in charge of it.  It is now safely on my host and under
my supervision.
I have suspicion that it has been tinkered with.

Should I patch in the code or should I request a fresh
index.template.php

During the upgrade I installed the upgrade package (2.0.8)
which could have missed the correct index.template.php

If you have no MODs or themes, you should go with a fresh set of files ;)
That will make your forum "fresh" while keeping all your content. And for sure it will solve that error ;)

I have the upgrade package installed, which brings
me to question whether I should use the 2.0.8
or the 2.0.7

the 2.0.8 does not seem to be there.

If I were to uninstall the upgrade package, it would
revert to the original 2.0.7 right?
If I do that I could use the 2.0.7 download?
Then re install the upgrade package.

YAAY!! absolutely no errors now!

I'll give it an hour or so and see what happens.
I had a tough time trying to upload the files because
of permissions, but I finally managed to figure it out.

I am now at 2.0.8 with a fresh upgrade with no packages installed.
Feels like I just had a bubble bath, massage and manicure.

I spoke too soon again.

The same error showed up again so I took the
index.template.php and copied the file to notepad
and did a search for

and it was not there.
So I took the file from the downloaded 2.0.8 upgrade and uploaded
it with a different name and manually pasted the contents
into the index.template.php

Now I have a banner and background problem.  The banner I was able to
restore, however, I cannot seem to find a setting for the background.
I found the background in the CSS (index.css) but it seems to be
overridden somehow.

Well the banner and background is something that
was probably tinkered with.  The good news is that
I have a fresh install of 2.0.8 and there are now
officially no errors.
I can consider this problem as solved.
