Help adding a right sidebar on index page

Hey everyone was wondering how I can a side bar on the index page only.

Here's a preview on how I want it to look like

Easiest way would be to use a portal mod. There are some really good default blocks that come with it, as well as some awesome things that people have added to fill the side bar as well. Take a look at this portal- http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1104

You can. Go into the simple portal admin settings and change it to integration mode. Then let's say for example you want the sidebar info on the right side only; go into the block list- then where you see display options- Show Block On, choose portal.

Then where you see "Custom Display Options:" type in forum.

You know how I can remove the collapse button?
I put a checked "Not Collapsible" but it still shows.


And do you know how I can make the sidebar not show on the "displaytemplate" and "messageindex" ?

Truthfully, I only have the portal on a test site, and haven't really played around with it that much to answer those questions. Your best bet would be to ask in the simple portal forum- http://simpleportal.net/index.php?action=forum

The team there is amazing and you will see a ton of cool things you can use if you want.
