Attachments gone

I came in to check on my forum this morning and my attachments are gone.  I've confirmed that there are still some files in my attachments directory, but i've confirmed that the ones that aren't showing up on the forum (every thread i've checked with attachments ...won't open the attachment) don't exist on the server. 

What could've happened? 

My automated backup solution, ...apparently isn't getting all files either.

Also, newly attached attachments show up as 0kb and can't be viewed.

If everything's been OK, up to now, the question has to be "Have you changed anything, since everything was OK?".

Installed any mods? That kinda thing.

Have you, perhaps, run out of space on the server?

Just found out I exceeded storage quota.  Apparently my backups are being stored in my home directory ...though i thought they were deleted on transfer off-site.  I'll have to get that sorted, but the issue is resolved, ...although there seems to be some attachments that were lost in the process.

I had a feeling it was the space.
