Welcome to the ol' forum!

Anything in the ol' error log?

Seems a good place to start. ;)

margarett

Something like that isn't really a good description.
Please provide accurate details ;)

How do I ask support questions the smart way?

the information is important -- however I do understand what the user is saying and asking. :)

I downloaded the latest version of smf and it is v. 2.0.8.

My coockie and session settings are:

Enable local storage of cookies                          checked
Use subdomain independent cookies                 not checked
Use database driven sessions                            checked
Allow browsers to go back to cached pages       cecked

i tried to swap between "Enable local storage of cookies" and "Use subdomain independent cookies" but that did not work.

Error log is directly under your "Admin" menu button ;)

i don't see an error that have to do with this.
but i did do a version check and the SSI.php is v2.0.4 and it should be v2.0.7.

Kindred

try unchecking Use database driven sessions - then clear your browser cookies and try logging in again

could the version of SSI.php be the problem?

margarett

No, that's fine. It's just a version number typo. SSI.php is fine (and has really no interference in Package Manager)

Can you please let us know the exact error you have?

I'm not that sure. The OP states the user can't install packages (I thought about MODs). These errors relate to languages download. And the error mentioned in the OP does not look really related to the error log...

i don't really get what you are saying.

Creative2117

can someone tell me at least how to install packages/mods manually?

margarett

In your first post you said: "When i try to install any package..." I thought you are trying to install a MOD.
But the errors you mentioned (from your error log) refer to this url --> http://noidec.se/index.php?action=admin;area=languages;sa=downloadlang
That's not Package Manager, so I think this error in your log doesn't really refer to the issue you originally mentioned.

In your first post you said:
Quote...it says i have to be a member to access this page or something like that...
Can you let us know the exact message you get when trying to install a MOD?

i am trying to install dreamportal (or any other package). and the message i get is "Only registered members are allowed to access this section.
Please login below or register an account with NoiDeC." and i get logged out but when i click on the home button or any button i get logged in again and the package never gets installed.

i want this to work, i don't wanna sit and install packages manually every time, and i did not get much of what it said in that you sent.

margarett

OK. Now I see it thanks. And Kindred was right, your admin session was kaput :P

I found this: http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=493238.0
Which is remarkably looked like this issue here ;)

This clearly has to be something related to your server setup as it doesn't happen to most people...
Please check for the presence of a file called .htaccess in the root of your SMF files (where SSI.php is). If it's there, try to rename it to something else and try again.
Can you get us a phpinfo()? --> http://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/Phpinfo()_-_What%27s_that,_then
