I successful copied a forum into a new site
I removed unwanted topics
. . . my post count as admin dropped as expected  8)
BUT
when I deleted WHOLE BOARDS
my post count was NOT adjusted
I even ran most of the forum maintenance options (logs, databases, counts, etc)

any idea on how I can fix my post count?
*this is NOT a crucial issue - just looks odd to anyone that might notice such things

THANKS !

ps
my karma and likes are also way too high

kat

Have you thought of going to Forum Maintenance and recounting/repairing stuff?

Gwenwyfar

It seems he did.

Have you checked if you don't have any board that is acting as recycle? Deleted boards would be moved in there, you'd have to disable post count in the recycle board or delete topics inside.

You know... I totally missed that part. :P

It's been a long week... ;)

Heh... I picked my wife up, from the hospital, yesterday, after she'd had an op. They sent me to children's outpatients, for some reason.

It was locked-up for the night.

Trudging around, searching for a single person, in a huge hospital, in the late evening, is an experience...

Not one I'd want to repeat...

Gwenwyfar

I can imagine... Going to the hospital is already a not-so-pleasant experience in itself. I've been stuck there for a few hours at night once, though I had to leave without what I came in for.

Hope she recovers fast from the op  :)

once the user makes another post it should recount their post count.

otherwise i believe https://github.com/Spuds/SMF-Admin-Toolbox will recount users post count.

TheDragon

made new posts -- did not update the post count
other ideas ??
I do NOT think I have recycle bin active = how do I check/?

thanks !

Gwenwyfar

You can check that by looking at your board list on admin panel. If you have it active it should display a recycle icon in one of your boards.

as I thought  / no boards had an active Icon
(question - if I wanted a recycle Board = how would I do that ?)

and still back to original question
how are post counts reset when Boards are deleted ?

thanks !  !

Arantor

Post counts are not updated if the board is set to count posts in it and subsequently deleted.

The count does not ever get automatically recalculated in SMF at any point; they are done over time each time a post is made.

You can change it in the "settings" tab on manage boards.

And how does recount posts work?

Ahh, I thought that's what recount statistics did.

Maybe on that case this mod could help?
