Find buttonlist ul li a.active in your theme's index.css change the color rule.

Yes, if you are using admin panel, or you can navigate to /Themes/<your-theme>/css/index.css (FTP)

Ftp is the better method imo ... I always download two copies of the file I'm going to change.

I change one, upload it and see if I screwed anything up. If I did, I still have the original file I can upload.
