Bump, I really need this for my website

Arantor

I haven't seen it done for SMF for a long, long time and no-one with the skills has done it.

Just because you're asking doesn't magically make it happen. I will certainly add it to my todo list but it will be a paid mod if/when I build it (and likely in the $50 bracket)

also, it is considered bad form to bump a topic in less than 24 hours.

There was a mod submitted that was supposed to allow login via Steam. But it was never finished and, therefore, released.
It's quite an uncommon request, though...

Theres is a SMF mod for a third-party service I use - it has login options for a plethora of social sites: Google, facebook, Github..and Steam.

https://app.oneall.com/signin/ - http://www.oneall.com/ - http://www.oneall.com/services/social-login/demo/

It requires downloading a SMF mod which they supply, and that you fill out/authorize at the various social sites. You do that through the Oneall panel. I have found this to be MUCH more useful than the various social login mods for SMF. You see it in action at my site when you login or register:

Except not Steam as the OP wanted.

The Steam-login option is shown there, as I see in my admin panel as well. Maybe you should check first. :)

But maybe you are right, maybe the OP don't want something like this. But thats up to him.

It does include Steam, as noted here.

I did look on the website, I saw nothing suggesting Steam was there on their main site.

Considering that their main site calls *PayPal* a social network... and also suggests such luminaries as AOL and Orkut, it seemed weird that Steam would actually be listed. But yes, digging much deeper, I do see it. Strange way to go about things.

In any case the number of people that have had issues with it is kind of worrying for something that concerns security.

To start, their ToS is cringeworthy...

Probably. :) Lucky me.

Don't have the time. All I know its working OK for me. Maybe its issues have been solved.

At this point I guess the OP have only 3 options:

1.) Try the OneAll mod - which Arantor regards as a bad choice, or..

2.) Live in the hope( or maybe just offer him money), that said Arantor make this mod sometime in the future (of course not for free)

3.) Learn to live without it.

*shrug* Plenty of people ignore my advice every day.

There were a few issues with the one4all mod when it was first released, but they were pretty quickly rectified and fixed.
ive been using it for ages now with no issues at all.

It is somewhat fiddly to set up, or at least, you have to follow the instructions properly, but integrating social network login often is anyway. (although im sure Arantor knows loads of examples when it isnt :D)

Good to hear. :) It may be a bit complex, but once setup its easy enough. I will probably add some support for it in my themes, icons etc.
