Show message if referrer is x

I've tried a couple of different methods....and I've not yet tackled this issue.

In my messageindex.template.php I want code to display a message to anyone who was referred by www.x.com (fake url) OR is in group id 1. I just want a div to display and ONLY to those, never to anyone else....ie: not hidden with css.

Can anyone please help me out? :)
