Ebay Affiliate Mod

I would like to see an Ebay Affiliate Mod. The one you have does not work very well. It would be great to link a product. Maybe there are some others that would pay for it. It would be worth a try. I know I would buy if it was a "reasonable price" and would work with the newest forum. I would pay 50.00. That would be reasonable. I wonder if you marketed smf towards the crafters and there is a lot of us, you would do well. Most have blogs because  forums do not have affiliate mods. Maybe that paid forum does. I don't know. I hope someone will think it over and come up with a mod. I will be keeping an eye out. Thanks in advance.

What exactly would such a mod actually do?

Shutit

It would allow me to place script links to certain topics on my board. Example code.

<script>document.write('<a target="_self" href="http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&pub=5575056599&toolid=10001&campid=5337374234&customid=&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fitm%2FThe-City-Stitcher-Scrappy-Quilt-Pattern-5-SAWTOOTH-CATS-64-1-2-x-80-1-2-%2F131343565457%3Fpt%3DLH_DefaultDomain_0%26hash%3Ditem1e94afc291">http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&pub=5575056599&toolid=10001&campid=5337374234&customid=&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fitm%2FThe-City-Stitcher-Scrappy-Quilt-Pattern-5-SAWTOOTH-CATS-64-1-2-x-80-1-2-%2F131343565457%3Fpt%3DLH_DefaultDomain_0%26hash%3Ditem1e94afc291</a><img style="text-decoration:none;border:0;padding:0;margin:0;" src="http://rover.ebay.com/roverimp/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&pub=5575056599&toolid=10001&campid=5337374234&customid=&mpt='+Math.floor(Math.random()*999999999)+'">');</script><noscript><a target="_self" href="http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&pub=5575056599&toolid=10001&campid=5337374234&customid=&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fitm%2FThe-City-Stitcher-Scrappy-Quilt-Pattern-5-SAWTOOTH-CATS-64-1-2-x-80-1-2-%2F131343565457%3Fpt%3DLH_DefaultDomain_0%26hash%3Ditem1e94afc291">http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&pub=5575056599&toolid=10001&campid=5337374234&customid=&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fitm%2FThe-City-Stitcher-Scrappy-Quilt-Pattern-5-SAWTOOTH-CATS-64-1-2-x-80-1-2-%2F131343565457%3Fpt%3DLH_DefaultDomain_0%26hash%3Ditem1e94afc291</a><img style="text-decoration:none;border:0;padding:0;margin:0;" src="http://rover.ebay.com/roverimp/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&pub=5575056599&toolid=10001&campid=5337374234&customid=&mpt=[CACHEBUSTER]"></noscript>

That is the code. It's just an example. I am not looking for clicks here. I would like to be able to post that so my forum members could buy patterns on ebay using my affiliate links.  The above code will work on a regular html site but not on the smf forum on the site. I only run the smf forum on my site. If you want to see it its quiltpals.com  Thanks for reading my post.

I still don't get it, how exactly would your members use this?

Letting them post raw JavaScript is a colossal security risk, and I don't see why that code is even necessary when it could just be a simple enough link using the URL bbcode tag...

Are you expecting it to automatically link words or something?

I just don't get what you expect the mod to actually do or how your users would actually use it. (Bear in mind, I've written dozens and dozens of SMF mods; if such a thing can be done with SMF, I can do it, I just need to understand what it is I'm trying to do should I take on such a thing, which could well be doable if you're talking about involving money)

ell, the current ebay mod allows a user to use [ebay] tags and enter just the item ID - which then generates the ebay link and pulls the ebay item title for display

I *ASSUME* (and I could be wrong) that the OP wants to do the same thing, but wants to insert his own affiliate ID into the ebay link instead of just generating a stadard ebay link.

Thanks I will try that mod again.
Ok so I installed the ebay mod. I don't really understand how that will link my affiliate links. Seems it goes directly to the product. I think I will just use a redirect link.

Arantor

I think you understand our problem - we don't really understand what you actually want to do  ;)

Kindred

Absolutely correct......   The mod that exists will to do anything with affiliate links. It links directly to the product page.   That is exactly what I said it would do.

My statement was a definition of what I THOUGHT you were asking for.

I reallllly want to just post "affiliate links". Not just plain links. I would like to make money from my links. If I put in the item number then it only brings up the item. I want to use my affiliate link to bring up that item and it will not let me. Not sure why you cannot understand that unless your just being funny. No matter. I do ok with adsense. Really you can lock the topic.

Kindred

I don't think that YOU are actually reading what we are writing.

I posted what I THOUGHT you were looking for.

You have yet to actually confirm that is what you are looking for...

I know this may be old, but there is a simple solution. Place your HTML version of your ebay partner link between  [ html ] ... [ /html ]  That will show your link with the title you created via ebay partner. No mod or java script needed.

Take care,

Kindred

Except that only works for admins and does not automatically translate all ebay link to use the owner's affiliate Id

In other words, sorry, but what you posted has no useful function.
