Determining what code to use for statscounter

Hi
I have embedded my code into my index.template.php just before the body as decribed in this previous post http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=472903.msg3305535#msg3305535 but it appears i am given a few options to choose from.
Standard, Standard (html ) Basic (Basic xtml )
The first two options didn't work for me but the basic did.
Just wondering would this be correct or should i have used the code Basic ( xhtml )
My Statscounter has detected the code and it appears it is  working fine but could some one with more experienced than me, please tell me if this is the correct default settings.

XHTML is what SMF uses by default and will make your forum past standards test.
