I have tried searching for answers to my questions here in this forum but i have not got a suitable answer(pardon me if that sounds rude). I am actually confronted wit the problem of placing custom images as adverts on the forum. i run a forum and for now i am not too okay with google adsense so i am deciding to add my own images as adverts on the forum. I have download ad management mod by smfhacks but i dont see what much i can do with that because i have tried writing the html code; <img src="/images/advert.png"/> and then i added the image in my root folder. To my dismay, it didnt work :( This was when i  decided to bring forward my case to Smf gurus. please help me out. I also want to add a sky scrapper customer advert outside the padding of my forum. how do i do that do?

What theme design & SMF version you're using? It's relatively simple to add adverts in any theme through it's index.template.php or respective template.

Do keep in mind you'll have to manually edit the ad code every time you want to change it though.

ETA: The ad management mod supports HTML inputs, I'd double check your html syntax and make sure it calls to a proper image.

oh! thanks! am i wrong with the html code? i don't mind editing the index code any time i want to add an advert. i just want to know how to go about it. like i said i have used the ad management mod by smfhack and i still didnt  get any image to show as advert. Maybe i am doing it wrong. How to get it right is what i am asking for. that is, The code to write and where to place it in my index.php and also how i could use my mod to display a custom advert.

<img src="/images/advert.png"/>

instead of that shorthand code try using the full path to the image.

for example
<img src="http://media.simplemachinesweb.com/smf/default/images/star.gif" alt="*"/>

thanks. I have been right all along with the ad mod. it was just that it was by default set for an administrator not to see adverts posted. My headache now is how to edit the php code to place in adverts if I don't want to use mods. I have little knowledge of php but my knowledge if HTML and CSS is sounding.

where do you want it exactly we can try and help with the actual code to look for.
